Kirk Lindo gives lessons on TROLLING and Psychology of a DEADBEAT

Since May of 2011, a day after I posted my personal experience with Kirk Lindo [The Darkside to Freelancing] on Deviant Art, I have been bullied by an anonymous person claiming to have worked for Kirk Lindo who called himself "ILOVEMYCOMICS", he signed his name on the account JASON FULLER, but later changed it. Needless to say I later discovered this person to be Kirk Lindo himself.

Here is a man who thinks making anonymous attacks on myself is a professional way to conduct himself to promote a defense. For examples check these links:

Why would a publisher pose as an anonymous fan of himself to make personal attacks and be overly obnoxious? It seems like Bullying tactics to get me to stop talking, or make Kirk Lindo to somehow be portrayed as the victim of my claims by questioning my ethics and putting me on the defense.

ILOVEMYCOMICS/ KIRK LINDO creates a new Blog http://ilovemycomics.blogspot.com/ just to lay claims against me and try to refute everything I have said. Take special note of his Trolling menu especially this one [How to handle a Troll] which shows how much thought Kirk Lindo put into this manifesto of trolling.

This tells you everything you need to know about Kirk Lindo as a person and how he thinks. This is the type of person you should never do business with.

How do I know ILOVEMYCOMICS is KIRK LINDO? I'm glad you asked, he signed up on a forum I used to frequent [account] Besides it being so obvious a stranger would take what I said so personally and go off like this. KIRK LINDO is a person who will do or say anything to anyone in his way.

Sample Contract of a Scam Publisher - Kirk Lindo - Brainstorm - Vamperotica

I had the displeasure to sign this contract with Kirk Lindo back in 1999, When I look back I have to cringe at how stupid I was to sign this garbage, But I did learn a lot since then. Study this contract and learn what to look for, this is a prime example of a scam contract.

A line by line summary:

1. This is a standard "Rights to Publish" clause, basically allows the publisher to print your art, but in this case it goes well beyond comics.

If you find something like this, make sure you will be compensated for every Item stated in the contract before you sign!

2. Quality control, to ensure the publisher gets your best work.

In my case, I recently found out my contract was terminated for this reason, but never contacted to be formally fired. Kirk Lindo claims my work was sub standard and it became a problem to the whole production, and yet my pages were published, contradictory to the clause "WORK WILL BE CONSIDERED ACCEPTED UNLESS REVISIONS ARE REQUESTED." No revisions were requested or art sent back to be reworked.

3. Payment/ royalty schedules, nuff said.

This part is really sad because I would have made practically nothing or made it worth my time, but back then I didn't know that. I would have made something at least if I had been paid. Then I could have some kind of paid status and credit in the business.

4. Promo copies for the artist.

Again I was never given any copies of books my work was published in, 30 days after Vamperotica Pin-up Special came out I was still sending art to Kirk Lindo.

5. Independent Contractor. This just establishes you do not work in-house, and are a freelancer.

6. ALL ORIGINAL ART SHALL REMAIN PROPERTY OF BRAINSTORM MEDIA INC!

Yeah I know, but I was young and stupid, the thought of having my work in print was overwhelming. And I thought this guy seems cool!

7. Contract Breach. Another red flag!

Penalties for breach are Non-Payment, No return of original artwork, and no Credit for existing work. Basically, what happened to me as claimed by Kirk Lindo, Except I was not informed of a breach of contract ever.

8. Confidentiality. You must keep your trap shut about all the projects and plans, even the financial info.

9. Cancellation of contract.

As I've stated before, I was never informed of a breach, but this clause was also was ignored.

10. The entire agreement. No changes may be made without consent of both parties.

There was also a verbal agreement to sell my pin-up's on ebay and I would be paid from that as well, But Lindo kept all the money except for $50.00 he paid me in Feb while I was still drawing pin-up's. Which he said was from ebay sales, so I don't know why I wasn't paid in full on that agreement.

It just go to show verbal agreements mean nothing, don't ever do them. Also, if you see similar clauses as seen in the Kirk Lindo Brainstorm Media Inc. Contract, do yourself a favor and pass on it, I wish I did.

PUBLISHER - KIRK LINDO - CON ARTIST

Kirk Lindo started Brainstorm comics back in the mid 90's and is known for his character Luxura featured in Vamperotica.

Back in 1999 I got a contract signed with Kirk Lindo at BrainStorm Comics to draw pin-up's for a few books, I was promised payment after the books hit the shelves, as the story goes Kirk Lindo stopped returning my phone calls and letters sent by Mail. He just disappeared. I drew 31 pin-up's and later found out he sold everyone of them on Ebay and kept that money on top of publishing my work. I even tried to file a small claims case, but he no longer (or never did) have an office at the address in the comic, so I really had no recourse.

Morgan Welborn published in 2000 by Kirk Lindo/ Brainstorm comics/ Vamperotica 31 Pin-up's

Vamperotica Pin-Up Special #1 + 7 pin-up's

Vamperotica Illustrated #3 [No credit] + 4 pin-up's

Buxotica #1a Cover artist + 13 Pin-ups [No artist or contact info]

CURRENT STATUS: CONFIRMED DEADBEAT

Inkers Winston Blakely and Luis Sierra say Kirk Lindo hired them to do work on Countess Vladimira for his Vamperotica line but never paid them. Scott Goodell says he is owed money by Lindo's Brainstorm Comics, Carralero and former Carralero publisher High Impact. C.J. Henderson says he is owed more than $500 for a screenplay and a column done for Lindo. Cynthia Johns, aka The Blonde Avenger, says she never received payments contractually due for an issue starring her character done for Lindo's Brainstorm Comics. Lindo says... well, Lindo's not returning the Journal's calls or e-mails. Not much is left of the indy Bad Girl boom of the mid '90s but bad checks and bad blood.
